The bookmaker's margin
Type the odds of every outcome in one market. The margin is how far the prices add up above 100%.
The four ways to write odds
- Decimal, 2.50: what comes back for each dollar staked, the stake included. Most crypto sportsbooks show this.
- Fractional, 3/2: the profit for each unit staked, without the stake. 3/2 is the same price as 2.50.
- American, +150: a plus sign gives the profit on a $100 stake, a minus sign the stake you need to win $100. +150 is 2.50, and -200 is 1.50.
- The chance, 40%: one divided by the decimal odds. It includes the margin, so the true chance is a little lower.
